Postcards

We are going to take a break for a while so that we can gather more ideas and enjoy the sunshine. Don’t stop writing!

How about writing postcards? You could write one a day. You could send the postcard, give it to someone in your family or keep the card for yourself.

You might have a stash of postcards you could use. We think it is fun to make your own postcards from the thin cardboard that comes with food packaging: cereal boxes, biscuit packets, maybe even the cardboard that holds drink cans together. Cut a postcard shape. It must be small enough to get through a post box and big enough not to get lost in the post. Then you can customise it. You can draw your own picture, print out a photo, add stickers or washi tape. Don’t forget to leave space for an address. You might have some plain labels to add so that your writing is clear.

Then add a message. Or a poem. Or a a note about what you have done in the day. What did you notice? What new word did you discover? What do you want to remember?

Yu could make your own post card book, like an August diary. Each day draw and write your thoughts and adventures. Punch a hole in the corner of the postcard and use string or ribbon to hold the cards together. What a lovely collection of memories that will be.
