I remember…

It is the end of the school year. Summer holidays ahead.  Look back over the year and jot down  what you remember. This might turn into a list poem or a piece of prose.

Start each line with ‘I remember … ‘ Think right back to September. What did you do in October? Did you organise a stall for a market or fair? What did you do to celebrate Christmas? Did you go on trips? What has happened when you have been learning at home?

Think about people and events. Think about surprises and things that made everybody laugh. Think about acts of kindness. Think about the things you would like to remember.

If this is your last year at the school where you are now, you could think back to your whole time at the school. What do you remember of your first day? First teacher? What have been the highlights?

I remember Miss Froggatt, her pretty summer dresses -full skirts and wide belts.

I remember making dens along the hedge, sweeping the dust with bunches of grass.

I remember conducting the percussion band, up on the stage in front of the whole school.

I remember how Janet Booth and I painted a picture, the seaside, blue powder paint dripping down through sea and sand.

Off you go. ‘I remember … ‘
