Here’s another way to make a word collection -and perhaps even to make a found poem.
When you are out and about -or even just inside – look out for letters and words that are not in books or magazines. Look for street signs, hand written messages, names pressed into metal manhole covers, messages sprayed on walls. If you have a camera, you can take photographs. Look at the colours and shapes of the letters. Or you can just copy the words into your notebook.
See if you can put some of the words together into a poem; or use one or more to start a story; or simply enjoy them. You never know when they will come in handy!
